How It’s Made: Construction Pt 4
Step into the world of Hoosier Custom Cruiser for the fourth installment of our "How It's Made" series, where we take you behind the scenes of the construction of a special coach. This vehicle is not just any coach; it is being custom-built for Hoosier's co-owner Earl and his wife, and it doubles as a demo model for the company.
Advanced Stages of Construction
Since the last update, the coach has seen significant progress. The chassis, previously extended for enhanced stability, now hosts the foundational elements of a luxury RV. The installation of the front cap and insulation, along with the vinyl flooring, marks substantial advancements in the build. The interior walls have begun to take shape, outlining the living spaces within.
Expert Electrical Work by Co-owner
Ed, a co-owner and the lead electrician at Hoosier, has been instrumental in wiring the coach's dashboard. His tasks include integrating systems such as the electric step, awning switch, and GPS for the radio. Wiring a dashboard is a detailed process that typically takes two to three days, reflecting the complexity and precision required in custom RV builds.
Plumbing and Insulation Innovations
Matt Sims, another co-owner renowned for his plumbing expertise, has installed dual 25-gallon gray water tanks and a 27-gallon black water tank. Each tank is equipped with a heat strip to prevent freezing in cold climates, wrapped in insulation for maximum efficiency.
Structural Integrity and Fine Detailing
As the construction progresses, meticulous attention to detail is evident. The installation of neatly drilled holes for plumbing and wiring, completed with protective grommets, ensures longevity and functionality. The steel step well, integrated into the floor, promises durability and resistance to wear.
Gearing Up for Completion
The coach is nearing completion, with the rear cap and slide-out sidewalls prepared for installation. The construction team at Hoosier Custom Cruiser is committed to preventing common issues such as leakage and delamination by using superior materials like Asdale for the fiberglass side of the coach.
Anticipating Part 5
This intricate build process showcases the high standards and innovative techniques Hoosier Custom Cruiser employs to deliver unparalleled quality. Stay tuned for Part 5 of this series, where the final touches will bring this custom coach to life, ready to hit the road in style and comfort.
